Introduction to Ruby

Ruby is programming language created and designed by Yukihiro Matsumoto "Matz". It supports functional, object-oriented, and imperative programming among many other things.

For anyone new to programming, it might be a good idea to take some baby steps as we did in the previous; HTML, CSS and JavaScript, tutorials. You can try Ruby without installing it by visiting the following link TryRuby. TryRuby has a 30-minute introduction to Ruby tutorial which I would highly recommend for beginners.

If you're up to the task, an easy way to install Ruby is to use the Install Rails. This installer is available for most major operating systems. Using this tool will simplify the task of setting up the development environment on your local machine.

Install Rails installs; Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Git, and more. You can also visit the following link Ruby to read through the Ruby documentation online and start experimenting with Ruby. More discussions on Ruby on Rails, Git, etc will follow later in sperate blogs and screencasts, so stay tuned.
